1.Schedule a 2 min break
Pick a time in your busy work routine and step away from your laptop, phone and any other gadget. Breathe in and out for a few seconds, take a walk around your office.
Make sure to do this daily as it helps you be in control of your situation. It helps keep you calm, takes away any disorientation and best of all keep you sane!
2. Create a To-do list
Every single morning once you get into the office, it helps if you have a list of all that’s
meant to be done. Get out your notebook and jot all that needs to be done by the end of the day. Once you complete a task, tick it off your list or cancel it out. What this
does, is that it gives you a peace of mind that something is being done and also it relieves
you as you see your tasks get done one by one.
3. Personalise your work space
Your work station is where you spend most ofyour time unless that is you are always in the field gathering up research. Regardless, you have space that is exclusively yours, whether it is the corner office, the last cubicle on the floor; it’s yours. What you need to do, is make this space as comfortable as it can get, make it colorful or add pictures of people you care about. Whatever you do, make it your own.
4. Create a fun working environment
What this does is relieve stress for every single working individual. Set a few hours aside in the week, play games, indulge in different activities or celebrate someone. Appreciate
someone on their birthday, promotion, upcoming nuptials or new baby. Yes, work is work but remember all work and no play makes jack a dull boy and we surely are trying to avoid that!
5. Flip your negative thinking
Try to look at situations with a positive outlook, whatever your circumstance, think on it positively. Avoid negative co-workers who will always bring you down and add on to your stress. People who always think on the negative, will never do anything to brighten
up your mood. When you’re faced with a task, take time, think on it critically and you will always find a solution.
6. Look for humor in the situation
It’s never that serious, think about it, in five years will it matter? No, then don’t pay it any mind. Instead, tackle it head on and move on. Find a way to lighten the situation upshare
a funny joke with colleagues or a funny predicament you once found yourself in-it’s bound to turn your frown upside down in just a matter of minutes.
